Well here we go. My name is Kevin, and I turn 24 this November. I plan to transfer to UCI for Biology and eventually study genetics. Epigenetics specifically. I will be honest though I would rather not have to go to school, and am only doing this because the U.S. Navy denied my medical waiver after I fought tooth and nail trying to get in, and it was all because of some archaic business with ADHD medication. I tested and qualified for their nuclear propulsion school where they would have drilled into my head all that great science and math stuff necessary to run a nuclear reactor without having it catastrophically melt down. The only thing that stopped me was their grizzled, ancient doctors contracted out of civilian life to give the pass or fail to potential military applicants in situations such as mine. Somewhere up the chain my waiver fell through, and as you can tell I am very bitter about this. After sitting around angrily for 10 days last year after it all went down I signed up for school, figuring that now I had no choice but to do this. Enough of my rant though. The reason I chose Bio was because it would lead me into genetics. I have always been fascinated by the intricate differences between different groups of people and I told myself if I couldn't fulfill my dream of being in the Navy that I would at least pursue a topic that has captivated me since I was a child.

Hi everyone. My name is Cristopher, I am taking this class to fulfill the G.E requirement to get an A.S in Computer Network Admin. I'm currently the computer technician at a small computer shop in El Monte and I hope once I get my degree I can move up to manage different types of computer networks. I decided to take this online class to cut the commute to Walnut and try to focus on keeping my full time schedule at work.

Hi everyone, I'm Thu Anh, and I'm major in biochemistry. I'm going to transfer to UCI this coming fall. This is my last class to fullfill the UC IGETC requirements. I haven't taken any philosophy classes before, so I think it should be interesting to explore this field a little bit. By the way, one boring thing about me is "I don't listen to music."

Hello, My name is Danny and I am 16 years-old and this is my first semester at Mt. SAC. I recently received my GED and left high school after my junior year to achieve my academic goals in an accelerated fashion. I plan on transferring after two years to University of California, Irvine, where I can then pursue an acceptance to medical school. Besides the fact that I need PHIL 5 for a GE requirement, I took this course because I enjoy reading and broadening my knowledge on philosophers.

Hello, My name is Jay Chang and I am 19 years old and this is the first time I have taken a summer class here at Mt. Sac. I am going to be a third year at APU and a nursing major currently in the BSN program. I'm taking this class in order to fulfill my university's GE requirements however I am interested in philosophy. I want to be pushed to think and ask myself deeper questions than just, "What is my purpose? What is life?". I am somewhat intimidated by this course as a whole because I have trouble grasping and comprehending broad conceptual ideas. I have always preferred learning logical, objective, facts so this course will definitely push me to think outside of the box. Overall, I am looking forward to this new challenge and hope to learn much through the process.

Hi! My name is Colin Guthrie. I am 23 and just finished an AS in Graphic Design at Mt Sac. I have been accepted at Cal Poly in the Theater Department for this fall. I am taking this course as a GE requirement for Cal Poly. Also I keep thinking about what life is about and want to look at the question from the perspective of psychology. One of my favorite plays is "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett. I am also a musician and play slap bass in a band called the Rocketz. That's it for now.

Hello fellow classmates,
My name is Jesus Magallon and I am taking this class to meet my general education requirements. This is my first time taking an online class and so far it seems promising. For about a year now I have been focusing on my math and science classes, so taking a class out of that field feels a little unusual for me. My goal is to major in biology and hopefully one day become a physician assistant. I am an active member of the Caduceus Club on campus, and during my spare time enjoy movies and music. As for what I hope to take form this class is to be able to approach everyday life and school from a philosophical view.
Best of luck to everyone.
