Hi, my name is Ryan Richard. I'm 27 years old and have been attending Mt. Sac for about a year.
I love computers, so I decided to try an Online course for the first time to see how it goes. I'm of course a Computer Science major -with emphasis in programming!
I'm an extremely logical person, hence the programming major, and I figured philosophy would be the perfect course to fulfill my GE requirement.
The course looks very well setup, so my initial reaction is positive. Looking forward to diving in!

Hello everyone, my name is Julia Xiao and I am 18 years old. I have been attending MTSAC for about a year now. I just recently decided to change my major to Psychology and am planning to transfer to UC Irvine or UC Davis next year. I enrolled in this class because I thought it would be a good idea to branch out and try to learn about different subjects that I am unfamiliar with. This is also my first online class, so I'm a bit anxious to see how everything is done. I hope everyone had a nice break and is ready to read and discuss.

Hello All,
My name is Manny Nunez. I am 33 years old, and I have lived in Ontario, CA most of my life. This is my second semester at Mt.SAC after a very long break, and I've decided that I am ready to accomplish my academic goals. For the next two years, I will be working on completing all the required classes in order to transfer into Cal Poly's Animal Science Program. My ultimate goal is to become a veterinarian. Currently, I own a small pet sitting and dog walking business, and I am doing very well, but I do not want to do that forever. And since I love animals so much, I decided that I want to be a Veterinarian. Also, I am taking this class because I find philosophy and neuroscience fascinating.
Neuroscience changed my life. Last time I was at Mt.SAC I did not do very well. So after many years of trying to make it out on my own without any kind of degree, I decided to go back to school. But I did not just want to return and be the same failing student. I decided to prepare myself as much as I could. Lucky, I found a course called "Learning How to Learn" on Coursera.com with talked about neuroscience and how to use it on your favor to improve memory and study skills. I applied many of the techniques on that course, and I was able to get and A on my psychology class last semester.

Post by Cecilia Cervantes on Jun 22, 2015 16:34:57 GMT
Hello, My name is Cecilia Cervantes, I am a 29 year old student here at Mt. Sac. I currently work as an LVN at Kaiser in Baldwin Park and I would like to get into an RN program. Its wonderful my job offers opportunities to their employees by allowing us to go back to school and get our classes payed for as long as we keep our grades up. I still have not decided where i would like to attend for my RN program, but I know for sure I need to get my bachelors to open my doors to better job opportunities out there. I have 2 daughters and have lived in west Covina for many years. My favorite part about going back to school is how amazed my daughters get every time we pass by Mt. Sac because they know thats my school and they say they want to go there when they are older. Well I hope I enjoy this 6 weeks of this course and hope to get a lot out of it.

Hi, my name is Kolton Martin. I am 19 years old and have been attending Mt.Sac for about a year. I am on the wrestling team and my major is kinesiology. I plan on opening my own gym someday, where I can help people live a healthier lifestyle. I chose to take this course because it fulfills my GE requirements, as well as teach me how to think and learn. Following Mt.Sac I plan on transferring to a university where I can continue my wrestling career.

Hey everyone, My name is Marissa. I am 24 and currently finishing up my Film degree at Cal State Long Beach. I live in Walnut so taking an online course at Mt. Sac during summer speeds up the process. I am taking this course to fulfill my electives. I transferred from Mt. Sac so I have an admiration for the professors who teach there and know that this course will most likely enlighten me and teach me new things just as past courses. My goals right now are to finish up my degree in the Fall. I one day hope to work for Disney, but am thinking of taking some time off next year to travel and be an au pair abroad. That way, I can explore and learn about new environments and cultures without having to be tied down to a job just yet.

Hi everyone! My names Andrea Zarate. I'm a psychology major and have been at the sac for about 2 years now. I'm ready to transfer. The plan is to attend long beach or fullerton. Originally, I was interested in the therapy route for a career but after many psychology classes, I have shifted focus to a career that would involve teaching and research. There's so much in the world of psychology and I want to be able to share what I learn with everyone else.
I took philosophy 5 before and didn't do so well. We had very interesting discussions in my class but at the end, I was not able to recall anything I had learned about philosophy. I'm hoping by taking this class again not only will I improve my gpa, but also understand what philosophy entails.
