1. Do you think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future?
Yes I believe artificial intelligence will be a bigger problem in the future than other people may think. As time goes on, we can see how much our society has advanced. Starting from the first computer to the newest iPad Air. Unlike past generations, kids have grown up with technology being handed to them. They have become adapted to rely on technology almost twenty four hours of the day. Watching Sci-Fi movies about artificial intelligence is a fiction based idea that may some day be real. In a recent film example, Ex Machina, the movie is about a "female" robot being tested whether or not it could pass off functioning like a human. The movie goes on to where the robot tricks one character and leaves him stranded alone. This movie depicts the robot as having and displaying human like emotions. There are several other movies like this where "robots" and other technologies take over the world. I do not think it could some day be as drastic as that, but we cannot rely on technologies to rule our lives today.
2. How has technology impacted your life?
The more technology advances, the more I find myself using and relying on it. In my daily routine, the first thing I do every morning is check my phone, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, and then my video game. I now have to rely on my phone to get anywhere I am not familiar with. I need my Google Maps on my iPhone to get me to my destination. If anyone were to ask me how to even get to my house, I could not tell you by using street names, unless I pull out my smart phone. Another example is, especially when at school killing time between classes or even eating dinner with my family, I am so focused on my phone and with its apps, I become unaware of my surroundings. There are beneficial perks of using technology everyday, such as doing homework (like this) or looking for research for an essay. Also setting an alarm to wake up on time, or checking the current balance of your bank accounts. I think, although used everyday, with how our society has evolved technology has now become a necessity.
