Do you think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future?
I do believe that artificial intelligence will be a problem in the future because mankind will rely more on technology rather than themselves and for some, if technology fails then all seems hopeless. Technology has been a part of human evolution in terms of discovering new ideas and inventing new machines. Inventions date back to the Stone Age where fire was first discovered which from there only lead to more ideas on how to harness it for our own personal gain, like for cooking and even hot air balloons. Technology has inspired mankind to keep improving and to keep inventing because that is mankind’s way of evolving. Mankind has evolved from the uncivilized cavemen, and cave women, we once were by becoming smarter with each passing day being inspired by the ideas and inventions that we create. In movies, Artificial Intelligence (AI) have been depicted as something that can evolve and adapt faster than any human as well as having the strength to do what any normal human cannot which makes it more capable and productive. An example of this is the movie A.I Artificial Intelligence (2001) where an AI learned to love despite being a machine not capable of showing emotion.. Although an AI may have the strength of a hundred men, they don’t have the imagination of one. An AI cannot think the way mankind does, it does not know how far we have come and what we have had to endure from personal experiences and since it is designed to not show any emotion and even cry, it can either be a friend or a foe. An AI is made to adapt to any situation which makes it great for combat and survival, but if put amongst society, it will struggle. Mankind should not be so dependent on technology, especially an AI, because when the time comes and technology has failed us, mankind will have to depend on each other to survive.
How has technology impacted your life?
Technology has impacted my life by making it easier to live. Technology has made school manageable by making all the information accessible via the internet which makes me able to access it at any time. Being able to access information without the use of a library makes studying so much easier. My smartphone has also played a major part in my daily life because not only can it let me be connected with social media, there are also apps that can serve different purposes which range from banking to gaming. Technology has also played a part in my familes life because of inventions in the hospitals and other facilities. My dad has type 2 diabetes and is also a kidney transplant patient which means he is part of the dialysis program where a machine filters his blood for him so that he stays within regular living conditions. I am especially grateful for this because technology is keeping him alive and stable. My dad has gone through a lot as of today and it is partly because of the technological advances mankind has achieved that he has been able to stay with us. Technology has made things easier over the years for me and my family, I am very happy that we have been able to create these machines. There are times where I need a break from all the monitors and video games and enjoy the outdoors a bit, which I think everyone should do. Technology will always make things easier, we just have to limit ourselves and enjoy what nature has to offer every now and then.
