Explain the virtual simulation theory of consciousness.
The virtual stimulation theory is an explanation of how we can believe what we see, but it is not really there, it is only our own brain playing a hoax on us. In the video “Disneyland of consciousness” it shows some rides in Disneyland having some characters in it, which we could think, are real people, but it’s only in our imagination. I’ve had many of these experiecences occur to me. Once I was looking outside my window and I kept thinking someone was in my backyard with a flashlight. I was really scared, but then after investigation found out it was just the reflection from and old refrigerator and the cars in the freeway behind my home. Well I was glad it was just that since I was already certain my house would be the next crime scene. The brain can definitely deceive us in many ways.
How does the brain trick us and for what benefit is it for our genetic survival?
In the book Cerebral Mirage it states “The brain tricks us into believing something to be real when it is not, provided such trickery provides with a survival advantage. When it is related to survival I would understand it like the examples given in the book, when a person goes into a coma or believes that they have died and resuscitated. The person is still here on earth but there brain has had a NDE (Near death experience). That cause people to see certain things that could make them imagine they died. In the book cerebral Mirage I liked reading the part that mentions that it is funny how everyone ends up seeing a light but at the end of the tunnel they are being welcomed by whom ever they believe is there leader, some claim they see god, others Guruji, Buddha, ect. I would think this would help some individuals reflect in their life and make changes if needed.
