1. Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
Understanding evolution will help humans understand how the changing of species comes into play. According to Charles Darwin evolution is by natural selection. Finding out about evolution is key in the explanation to our exsistance. Darwin's definition of natural selection shows how species have change and continue to change in order two survive. “ By analyzing the genetic origin of the decorative spots on a fruit fly wing, Carroll has discovered a molecular mechanism that helps to explain how new patterns emerge”(DarwinsDna p.14) Understanding how the Changes in natural selection give answers to why species begin to mold into a different appearance. Darwin also goes as far to say that selection is the answer on how species think the way that they do. Darwin explains that just one letter difference in our Genetic make up can change a very different apperance. That explains how everyone, sons, daughters, animals all in the same family look different from one another.
2. Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer? I think that evolutionary theory cannot answer why humans are predisposed. ”at the present stage the question cannot be answered”another question that can’t be answered is Darwin's theory on sexual selection. How did sexual reproduction originate? Darwin’s theory of natural selection leans towards the importance of sexual reproduction and how it continues the cycle of evolution, yet how it originated among asexual organisms still remains unsolved. Another question raised would be why there is suicide. ( The evolutionary Imperative) States the this philosophical question cannot be answered. The choice of life in death. The metaphor of jumping on a plane when you know your going to die or killing yourself to spare that tragic accident is compared in the film to humans being on the ride of life. If everyone felt that way then wouldn't everyone commit suicide since they are going to die anyways.
