1. Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human behind behave?
The theory of evolution is vital to understanding how human psychology because scientist use it to study ours genes and traits, and it’s the main movement for improvement and change in our environment. Charles Darwin is known for the quote “survival of the fittest”, but there is more to it than just survival. Every human on Earth has numerous different traits and genes that cultivate, include body structure, intelligence, physical features, etc. The theory of evolution goes beyond our genetic makeup; it bleeds into our values and morals. Along with the many different cultures and generations, our values and morals have evolved similarly to our bodies. In the video “The Genius of Charles Darwin”, talks to a woman who is genetically immune to HIV, which according to a microbiologist will be a more dominant trait in the future. There is no vaccine against HIV because it is rapidly increasing, and evolution helps scientists understand the HIV’s origins. Because scientist know that HIV and SIV are in the share a similar genome, and this opens the door for scientists to narrow down the search to a vaccine for HIV.
2. Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer?
The questions evolutionary theory cannot answer are of course the origin of the universe, the origin two different sex, what was the first elements formed, and where and when did life originated on Earth. A quote from “The DNA of Consciousness” best describe the purpose of humans is “Our brains didn’t evolve to understand the universe but to literally “eat” it” (p. 32). We try to figure the answers to the above but only to be met with dead ends. There are many more questions that evolutionary theory cannot answer because evolutionary theory is used to observation what is already present. However, it the theory can be used to go back to the past, but with limitations. A theory explains why facts happen. For example, we know that gravity is a fact that we encounter every day. Then in science we test the fact and confirms it as a general standard that clarifies natural phenomena. Consequently, there are ideas and objectives that we cannot experiment with; therefore there various unanswered question. The theory of evolution is a credible scientific theory in the science community. There are countless that the theory has despite false claims of creationist and also made numerous successful predictions.
